A commissioned work of wood wall art now hanging in an art collectors home in Las Vegas.
The clients were hoping to capture the essence of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area near their home. So, I spent some time enjoying this quiet park, which is only about twenty miles from the cacophony of all that is the Las Vegas Strip.
I sketched a few ideas and shot a bunch of photos to help spur more ideas once back home.
I returned from Red Rock Canyon and spent some time with the Choate’s at their home.
And enjoyed their infamous Coronitas-du-Choatville.
From my photos, sketches, and Tequila-laden memories of a fun visit, I handcrafted their commissioned wood wall art with a variety of different species of wood including poplar, redwood, and paulownia. I finished this piece with a clear polyurethane finish, which really made the colors pop.
P.S.
Choateville really does rock!
