Picture this board un-twisted and you will see a classic Bonzer – which has been one of my favorite shapes to ride.
I built this surfboard on a wood frame that I highly modified, steamed, bent, tortured, and twisted.
Using the strip-build technique, it contains over 200 very thin segments of several different species of wood including cedar, pine, redwood, poplar, mahogany, and teak. The nose is inlaid with abalone, mother-of-pearl, and turquoise.
This surfboard won Best of Show – Art Category – at the International Boardroom Show in Costa Mesa, CA.
It now resides in an art collector’s home in Dallas, TX.
